Preparing to Buy

Before you start shopping for your property, it is a good idea to meet with lenders. Your Portland’s Choice Realty real estate agent can recommend experienced, knowledgeable lenders in the residential, construction and investment real estate fields including any special programs for first time homebuyers. Some of the items you will be asked to provide are:

• Financial statements for 401Ks and mutual funds
• Bank statements
• Loans such as auto, school, current mortgages
• Recent pay stubs
• Tax returns for two years

Now is not a good time to make sudden career changes or large purchases. You want to approach your property purchase from a position of financial stability.
